New Android Wear-powered Huawei Watch shown off in two promo videos

Huawei has plans to unveil their first Android Wear-powered smartwatch, the Huawei Watch, at MWC 2015. Ahead of the company’s press event which will be held Sunday, March 1st, Huawei has released two new promotional videos showcasing the new watch. The videos were just recently posted on the company’s YouTube channel. The first, entitled “Huawei Watch: The timeless design story” features a few Huawei execs explaining their ideas behind the design of the watch. The second video, and arguably the cheesier of the two, is called “Huawei Watch: Your Ultimate Companion to Make It Possible”. This video shows a man trekking through the wilderness to catch up with his friends, Huawei Watch in tow.

Just based off of the promotional materials we’ve seen so far, this Huawei Watch may be the most attractive smartwatch out there. Performance aside the Watch has a small, completely round display, minimal bezels, a heart rate sensor, a sapphire display and interchangeable leather and metal straps. It seems to be less bulky than the Motorola Moto 360 and the LG G Watch R while still featuring a round display. But of course, performance will play a big role in whether or not the Watch is worth buying.

We don’t have any information on the exact specifications, price or release date quite yet, so we’ll have to wait until Sunday to get more information. While we wait, check out the two promo videos below to see if you’d consider this watch over the competition.

Google announces 9 new Android Wear watch faces from iconic designers

Google’s blog has announced 9 new Android Wearwatches faces that have hit the scene from some iconic designers. Some you may know, others you may never have heard of. Don’t beat yourself up, I have never heard of any of them. Apparently they are all a big deal though. Regardless of your knowledge base in the designer world, we are gaining access to 9 new watch faces that are designed by names that mean something in some circles and they all free to pick up through the Play Store today.  Some are classy, some are colorful and some are fun. Most offer choices in their settings from the print choice in the Ted Baker to the rock walls from Melissa Joy Manning.

Ulysse Nardin’s Boutique-Exclusive Perpetual Calendar Manufacture

Ulysse Nardin is known for its innovative, easy-to-set perpetual calendars. This winter it introduced a new version, the Perpetual Calendar Manufacture Boutique Edition. Available only through the brand’s own stores, it is limited to 250 pieces.

The watch has the UN-32 in-house movement. This automatic caliber is COSC-certified as a chronometer. Its stand-out feature is that the calendar can be adjusted via a single crown, and can be set either forwards or back. Pushers on opposite sides of the case can adjust the time in one-hour increments. The date is visible through a double window at 1 o’clock. The day can be seen in an aperture on the small-seconds subdial, with the month opposite it. The year appears at 6 o’clock in another double window. A blue hand at the center of the dial points to the home time zone, represented by a 24-hour scale on the flange.

Ulysse Nardin has been recognized for its perpetual calendars ever since the GMT +/- Perpetual was introduced. Designed by Ludwig Oechslin, the GMT +/- was the first perpetual calendar that could be adjusted both forwards and backwards via the crown without damaging the movement. Ulysse Nardin first introduced the UN-32 manufacture movement, its in-house version of the mechanism, at Baselworld 2014. The new Boutique Edition has a 43-mm platinum case and a blue dial. It has a nonreflective sapphire crystal over the dial and another on the caseback. The watch is water resistant to 30 meters. It comes on a blue leather strap with a folding buckle. It costs $69,500.
